Masane sighs as she leans into her son's embrace. He was always able to fill the room, both figuratively and literally. It felt good to know that he was there to protect her as much as she did her best to do the same. She may not be the best mother, but she would do anything in her power to keep her children safe and make them happy.
"Mmmm, she'll be out for a while. She's volunteering today, and then she'll be doing some shopping. We have until 4."
She leans in and kisses him, letting all her worries about past battles and future operations slip away. It wasn't the time to get caught up in them. The question of which one of them was backing the right side, as well as making sure he WAS up for fighting, all that could wait until tomorrow.
